Seoul Our Hotel & View

Our room in Seoul has a kitchenette in it with washer.  Only we have nothing to cook or keep in a refrigerator and nothing really to clean yet.

The hotel staff were probably happy when I left.  When we first got to the room we couldn’t figure out how to turn the lights on so I had to go back to the front desk.  I was told the key card goes in a slot next to the door and that would give power to the room and conserve energy when we weren’t there.  When we took the card out when we left it would give us 30 seconds before the lights go out.  Then I didn’t know which adapter to use so that was another trip to the front desk.  Then I couldn’t figure out how to do a wake up call, so another trip to the desk. Then lastly I was told there was water bottles for us so one last trip to the front desk.  In my defense I hadn’t slept since we left the states and I was getting a little punchy.

Dinner in Seoul

Our first meal in Korea Grand Master Kim of NY was serving our table.  This is going to be one LONG trip.  Jenna only ate plain rice and a little lettuce even with Master Yoo trying to encourage her.

I thought the foods were good.  Mostly vegetable combos with rice some spicy and some not.  This restaurant has metal chop sticks that were heavy to use.  Although Jenna did fine eating her rice and lettuce with them I must have looked pathetic because a waitress came over with a fork.

On the Ground

According to Asiana website, they landed in Korea over 3 hours ago.  No word yet!  Not sure how far from the airport to the hotel, then there is customs …  I am hoping that customs did not open there suitcases, they are packed to the brim and may not be able to get them closed […]

Seoul Airport

Cool looking Airport!

It was incredibly clean and the people working there  were friendly.  Although trying to leave with my luggage Jenna & I were stopped and not allowed to pass because of a form I filled out on the plane  customs took and didn't  give back.  Master Yoo was way ahead and didn't see.  Thank goodness for Grand Master Kim because he stopped and spoke to them and then they let Jenna and I through.

On the Plane

The plane ride really wasn't bad. We got up to stretch a lot, watched movies and the airline was constantly feeding us.  Three meals in 14 hours plus soft drinks and snacks.  We used the books you all gave us and were doing competitive games of word searches and Sudoku etc.  Jenna & I stayed awake all the way and Jenna went to sleep 10 pm Korean time.

Airport Picture

Attached is a single picture I was able to capture at JFK Airport.  It shows Jenna with the 120+ pounds of luggage to be checked.  Jenna was disappointed that there were no USB charging outlets at her seat on the plane (like there were in the terminal) for her iPod.
