Poomsae Video Links Added

Because of recent worldwide events, virtual competitions of TKD Poomsae have become a reality.   The Kukkiwon World Taekwondo Headquarters  has released a block of official poomsae videos to aid you on the understanding of each form and to allow you to visualize the forms performed correctly and to use this information to improve your own poomsae.

I added official Poomsae videos endorsed by KUKKIWON WORLD TAEKWONDO HEADQUARTERS to my main TKD Menu -> TKD Poomsae page.

I spoke to Barb @ 7 AM (NY Time) for about 45 minutes.  She had lost the ability to “Skype out” but was able to answer a Skype call.  I got her up and running on Skype again and she tested the ability to “Skype out” to me.   She was in the process of […]

Off to Jeju Island

I got a quick email from Barb @ 12:58 AM last night (this morning … at least Monday morning in Korea).  She was up waiting for her hair to dry.  She says the humidity is awful there and every day is a “big hair” day.  Barb said she would try to Skype me when she […]

Namsan Mt. Hanok Village, Seoul Tower-Training Going Up

WOW! up at 5 am so that we can meet at the bus to start the first training day in Seoul, South Korea.  Jenna had a protein bar and some water before we left.

Namsan mountain was nice and shaded on the way up but the stairs were very steep and most of the time there were no hand rails.  Along the way there were places to stop and stretch out or work out.  I felt VERY out of shape since there were seniors passing me on the stairs.  They also had on long sleeves, pants, a hat and weren’t sweating.  I had short sleeves on and capris and I was sweating.

Since the competitors were jogging I lost them.  The path split and I had to guess which way they went.  I met a Korean woman coming down and first asked if she spoke English.  She said a little.  We were all wearing the same shirt so I pointed to my shirt and asked if she saw our group jog by.  She said yes and that they were at the top of the mountain exercising.  I said Thank you and then she told me I had 20 minutes more of walking to get there.  UGH!

Skype Contact

I video chatted with Barbara about an hour ago on Skype. She is exhausted, but both her and Jenna are OK and @ the Hotel. Jenna has to get up at 5:30 AM (Korean Time) tomorrow to start training … This should go over well; she is not a morning person. I think there is […]

Seoul Our Hotel & View

Our room in Seoul has a kitchenette in it with washer.  Only we have nothing to cook or keep in a refrigerator and nothing really to clean yet.

The hotel staff were probably happy when I left.  When we first got to the room we couldn’t figure out how to turn the lights on so I had to go back to the front desk.  I was told the key card goes in a slot next to the door and that would give power to the room and conserve energy when we weren’t there.  When we took the card out when we left it would give us 30 seconds before the lights go out.  Then I didn’t know which adapter to use so that was another trip to the front desk.  Then I couldn’t figure out how to do a wake up call, so another trip to the desk. Then lastly I was told there was water bottles for us so one last trip to the front desk.  In my defense I hadn’t slept since we left the states and I was getting a little punchy.
